An article written from RightHealth Communities Web Page
(an Anonymous article)
An 89 year old man was diagnosed with Myelodysplasis in January, 07. He has been having transfusions of both blood and platelets, now more frequently than in the beginning. Two weeks ago, while in the hospital, he had three transfusions and one of platelets in a ten day period. He is being treated with an anitbiotic for an infection that the doctor's are not sure what the source of the infection is. Last night his port got clogged. It was cleaned and reinserted. When the antiboiotics started, his skin turned very pink and his limbs are now swolled....arms, hands, legs. His skin is peeling badly and he itches a lot. I am wondering why the skin is peeling and red/pink, and why the swelling of his limbs. His antibiotic treatment has been ongoing for two weeks. thanks for your input.

)My personal comments)

My question is--can this condition be inherited? My father who was also 89 died from this terrible disease about 3 years ago. walking, He had the very same systems described above....the only difference was that he had extremly dry skin all of his life and I do too. I am experiencing the same problems, I/E, unsteady walking, stumbling and falling, weakness in my legs, hips, knees and feet. I haven't spoken to a Doctor about this, but am seeing a Neurologist next week concerning the results of an MRI which showed a herniated disk in my back. Please respond as soon as possible as I am obviously anxious about the possible genetic relation. Thank you,
Sherrie Haley

Hi.
I was wondering if you had any advice for the way my bodies been acting lately.
It seems that the more I want & try to loose weihg the more my body aches & pains, ever since I've started dieting more I've gotten much more sicker than usual, I use to only get sick like once or twice a year & now I'm getting sick like all the time. & lately I've been having trouble sleeping, so I get up do alittle bit of exerciseing & drink some sleepy time tea & it still doesn't help me. Is it just my body changing to a new environment since I did just move from a low elevation to a very high elevation or is it something else? Please if you can help me figure out whats wrong with me & my body that be grateful. & thanks.
