Tell us about yourself. We'd love to get to know you.
I am a 57 year-old grammy of one--so far. We just celebrated her first birthday the end of April. Of course, she didn't get it at all but the rest of us had a ball watching her try to figure out what to do with this one tiny candle and all that cake! And, yes, she liked the packaging better than the gift. (There was a rocking horse on the sack that "rocked" when you touched him.) You can see our "little princess" complete with crown to the left in Grammy's arms.
Oh, you wanted to know about me. I am the oldest of five children, four girls and a boy, of course, now all grown. We are adult orphans and miss our parents terribly. Their wisdom, however, seems to still ring through our ears as we grapple with decision making. My mom had always dreamed that I would be an R.N. as this was her dream but she married young and started her family young. So at the age of 39, I returned to college to receive my Associated Degree in nursing. Still wanting to make her proud of me, I graduated at the top of my class with a 4.0 from La Tech in Ruston, La. (Now my previous college experience when I was a youngster and didn't know any better, were not found to be at such a high GPA, so I graduated with a 3.6 which was about the best I could hope for.)
She, along with my family cheering me on, watched my pinning and graduation. One week after I took my state boards at the age of 42, she died at the early age of 58. Breast Cancer and Hepetitis C finally closed out a bright light in my life. At least, she got to watch one of her dreams come true before marching on to where she REALLY wanted to be--with her Lord!!
How can I tell you about myself without telling you about her when we were so tightly knitted! We laughed so much those final weeks and remebered every thing we could about our family--vacations we had taken, funny happenings and even some not-so-funny memories of people still in our lives and ones who had gone on.
Life is not all good or all bad, I saw, but if you keep on reaching out to one another by phone and especially prayer, we will all make it through victoriously.
Tell us where you are joining us from
Today, I join you from Lewisville, Texas, just north of Dallas, but am originally from Louisiana--NORTH Louisiana!!
Tell us about your health conditions, if any
My, must we go there? During the first year of nursing school, I began experiencing migraine headaches, the longest one lasting nine solid weeks! No medication, exercise or home-remedies seemed to touch it, but somehow I managed to keep up with my studies.

Why God Would Have To Hit Me In The Head First!

You know how people make that statement, "Why God would have to hit me in the head first", ususally meaning there is something in their life they would just as soon NOT do--forever, because God, after all, would NOT hit you in the head, would He? My health had been good most of my life, except for unrelenting pain from time to time. This started in fifth grade. "Oh, it is just growing pains,"said my family doctor. So I just delt with it the best I could, using Asprin often and hot baths very oft…
